Namaste!
My name is Ravinder Kumar, and this blog is my small story of struggle, fear, hope, and finally peace.
In the year 2013, my life changed completely. One normal day, I went to the doctor for a regular check-up. After some blood tests, the doctor looked at me and said, “Ravinder, you have diabetes.” Those words hit me like a truck. I was only 32. I had a family, responsibilities, and a small business to run. Diabetes? Me? I could not believe it.
The doctor gave me medicines and a long list of things I should not eat. But deep inside, I was scared. I started reading everything about diabetes on the internet. One day, my old clients from America called me for some work. When I told them about my condition, they immediately said, “Ravinder, stop eating normal market vegetables and fruits. Switch to organic only. Many people in the US have reversed their diabetes just by eating clean organic food.”
Their words gave me new hope. I decided right there — from today, only organic food for me and my family. No more compromise.
But then the real problem started. I went to every market in my town, every vegetable shop, every supermarket. I asked, “Bhaiya, organic vegetables hain kya?” Everyone looked at me like I was asking for gold. “Organic? Yahan nahi milta saab.” There was not a single shop selling organic vegetables, fruits, or even daal. I felt helpless.
One night, I was searching on Google and read a shocking report. It said that in our normal vegetables and fruits, the amount of pesticides is 700% more than the safe limit suggested by the FDA. 700%! I could not sleep that night. I was feeding poison to my family every single day. My diabetes was not just because of sugar — it was because of the chemicals we were eating without knowing.
That was the turning point. I sat with my wife and said, “If no one is selling clean food in our town, then we will grow it ourselves.” She smiled and said, “Chalo, ghar pe hi shuru karte hain.”
The very next morning, I started. I bought some pots, good soil, and organic seeds. I converted my small terrace and backyard into a tiny farm. First I grew tomatoes, then spinach, then ladyfinger, then different types of daal. It was not easy. Many plants died in the beginning. I made mistakes with water, sunlight, and natural fertilizers. But I did not give up.
Slowly, my small home farm started giving results. Fresh, chemical-free vegetables and fruits were coming every day. My blood sugar levels started improving. I felt more energetic. My family was also happy because everything we were eating was pure and full of taste.
Today, after so many years, I am still doing the same thing — but on a bigger scale. My home farm has grown. I now grow more than 30 types of vegetables, fruits, and herbs. I also make my own organic compost and natural pesticides using neem, garlic, and cow dung. Whatever extra I grow, I share with my neighbours and close friends.
This blog is not just a website. It is the story of my journey from a diabetes patient to an organic farmer. Here I share everything I have learned — how to grow vegetables at home even in small spaces, how to make natural fertilizers, which seeds are best, how to control pests without chemicals, and most importantly, how clean food can truly change your health.
If you are also struggling with diabetes, or you are worried about the pesticides in market vegetables, or you simply want to eat clean and healthy food, then you are at the right place.
My mission is simple — to show every Indian family that we don’t need to depend on big organic stores. We can grow our own clean food at home, even in flats and small houses.
Thank you for reading my story. I hope it gives you the same hope and courage that my American clients gave me in 2013.
Together, let’s grow clean food and live a healthier life.
Jai Hind!
